Free calendar reminder and review checklist

Set a renters insurance coverage review reminder

Give yourself time to review your policy and update your belongings inventory before renewal. Download a calendar file without sharing an email address.

Make time for a coverage review

Choose a date from your current policy documents and download a one-time calendar event for 14, 30, or 60 days before renewal. No email address or account is needed. The tool uses your device's date, so check its clock if a date looks wrong.

This is a planning reminder. It does not contact your insurer, verify a renewal offer, or buy, renew, change, or cancel insurance. Review any payment deadlines and notices separately. Do not wait for a calendar event when a policy or lease issue needs attention now.

Use the date on your policy or renewal documents. Choose today or a future date within five years. Do not use your lease end date unless it is also your policy renewal date.
These are planning choices, not legal notice periods or insurer deadlines.
Enter your renewal date to preview the review date.

Entries remain in this page's memory and are not sent to us or saved to browser storage. The downloaded file includes the renewal and review dates you selected. Importing it shares those details with the calendar you choose, according to that provider's settings.

How to add the reminder to your calendar

  1. Enter the renewal date and choose a lead time. Review the date displayed above. If that review date has passed, choose a shorter lead time or explicitly choose today's date.
  2. Select Download calendar reminder. Open the .ics file or use your calendar's import option. Import instructions vary by calendar and device.
  3. Confirm the event's date and destination calendar before saving it. The file creates one all-day event. It is not a subscription, an invitation to anyone else, or an annually repeating event.
  4. Set the notification you want in your calendar and check that it is enabled. The file does not include an alarm, and this website does not send notifications. An imported event alone does not guarantee an alert.
  5. If your renewal changes, update or delete the old event. Downloading again can create a duplicate. After the review, decide when your next review should happen and create a new event if useful.

Clearing this page does not remove a downloaded file or an event already imported into your calendar. If you use a shared calendar, consider whether its other users should see the event. You can enter a reminder manually instead.

Check the items that you have reviewed. These checkboxes are a temporary aid and are not saved when you leave or reload this page. Print a copy if you want a record. Keep actual policy documents, receipts, and personal details in your own secure files.

Put the checklist to work

Start with the renters insurance checklist for a room-by-room coverage-planning process. The belongings inventory calculator adds your replacement estimates, while AlltheThings.property's free home inventory resource offers another way to organize your belongings. Review any external service's privacy and storage practices before uploading documents or photos.

Use the quote comparison worksheet to put limits and policy terms beside the price. Our policy-reading guide explains where to look for those details, and the question builder helps you prepare specific questions. These resources organize a conversation; they do not determine whether a particular claim will be paid.

When to review before your scheduled date

An annual review is useful, and changed circumstances can justify an earlier conversation. A move, a new roommate, a major purchase, or a change in how you use the home can raise questions that should not wait for renewal. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners recommends checking coverage annually and when circumstances change.

Receiving a cancellation notice, nonrenewal notice, payment problem, or request for proof of insurance is also a reason to read the documents and contact the relevant party promptly. This tool does not interpret those notices or calculate their deadlines. The review date you choose is your planning date, not an extension of any contractual or legal deadline.

If you are moving, use the moving coverage guide to prepare questions about both addresses, storage, and belongings in transit. If lease requirements have changed, read the apartment requirements guide and confirm the actual requirement with your property manager.
